‘It’ll be a big asset’: Chapin leaders hopeful after manufacturing facility opens

CHAPIN, S.C. (WACH) — The town of Chapin is on the comeback, with a new multi-million-dollar business investment bringing life back to a community that was hit hard by large businesses shutting down.

“I believe this is going to have a huge impact on the community,” said Charlie Zobel. “It’s a small community, but there are a lot of people here.”

Zobel and Eric Demack are leaders with Upcycle Global Strategies Holding Corporation which opened a 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Chapin, specializing in reusable trash bags made from recycled material.

“The goal is to have zero waste and a product that’s completely reusable,” said Demack, who serves as the president/sales director of Upcycle Global Strategies Holding Corporation.

Another goal is filling dozens of manufacturing – and high-skilled engineering jobs.

Demack tells WACH FOX News the company is looking to bring on 60-70 more employees by the end of the year, which will bring them to full capacity.
