There is no shortage of things to do in Orangeburg County, especially with its historical elements and captivating scenery. Stop by the Edisto Memorial Gardens for a tranquil afternoon, where you can find over 4,800 flowers, a butterfly garden, and plenty of children’s activities, plus the new Edisto Beer Garden in Orangeburg (opened in Summer 2023!). The Orangeburg Festival of Roses is not to be missed, as well as a slew of special and unique festivals the whole family can enjoy. The Grand American Coon Hunt kicks off the UKC calendar for the year and attracts visitors from across the country. Cultivating Talent

There are over 14,000 students in the Orangeburg County School District, and the local private school system offers an alternative option with nine schools dispersed throughout the county. A strong network of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), technical colleges, and community colleges are fostering the minds of next generation’s movers and shakers. Claflin University, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, and South Carolina State University attract and retain talent in the Region.
