Kenny Adamson grew up surrounded by cars. Being from Detroit, his family was deeply involved in the automotive manufacturing industry. Makes, models, and motors of all sizes have fascinated and piqued Kenny’s interest since he was a young boy.
Kenny initially moved to Central SC to attend the University of South Carolina, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Prior to graduating, he got a job at Schneider Electric, where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer. After many years of experience at the local plant, he became a Production Supervisor and currently works as a Senior Quality Engineer where he makes low voltage power distribution equipment.
Alongside his wife, who has been a devoted and involved member in the local small business community, Kenny assists companies with building and establishing their plans and processes for mass production. As a freelancer, Kenny helps small startups get into contact with the resources and vendors they need to help their business expand.
A typical weekend showcases another one of Kenny’s side hustles, where he incorporates his passion and love for automobiles by modifying and improving cars. Even his boss likes to joke that Kenny “works harder at home than at work.” Kenny is a YouTube-certified mechanic and considers himself a “do-it-yourselfer.”
Aside from the new opportunity Kenny found when he first moved to the Region, the small town feel, short commute times, and unparalleled cost of living invited him to stay. The central location of the Region means a weekend trip is always at his fingertips. From nature preserves to fun trails to the glistening water of Lake Murray, Lexington, SC, has convenient access to a vast array of activities. Aside from spending time in the great outdoors, Kenny also loves renovating his new home, strolling through community outdoor markets with his wife and dog, and visiting family.
