Kenisha Rodgers has found a home in the heart of South Carolina. Kenisha began working in the logistics and distribution industry 20 years ago after a friend back in Memphis presented her with a job opportunity. Later, she would go on to work as a Foreign Trade Zone Analyst in Florida and now works the same role at Samsung in the Central SC Region.
In her position, Kenisha helps Samsung seamlessly import parts from all around the world with a keen eye toward how the company can save on due rate, as well as stay in compliance with all regulations. Kenisha truly helps Samsung, as their tagline says, do bigger things.
She says that the biggest differentiator between Newberry, SC, and the other cities she has lived in is the peaceful, calm and quiet nature of the area. She was drawn to the small town because Newberry doesn’t fit her too hot, too cold, it “fits [her] just right.” In her neighborhood, people know one another on a name by name basis and always are happy to greet Kenisha with a friendly wave. These interactions were ones she had never experienced or felt in any of her prior residences, and made her happy to be here. Shortly after starting her job with Samsung, Kenisha has already felt at home in the Region. “I don’t think I would give it [the friendly community] up for anything.”
When Kenisha is not creating customs documents at Samsung, she is an active participant in her local community. Passionate about fighting cancer, Kenisha is a proud member of two non-profit organizations, one being St. Jude’s Hospital and the other a community group combating and raising awareness of gallbladder cancer, and works to raise funds in her spare time. Kenisha not only has an eye for customs documents, but an eye for photography. She loves capturing images ranging from pets to nature and aspires to open her own business.
On the weekends, Kenisha loves to spend time with her daughter by going shopping at one of the many locations Central SC has to offer. Depending on the season, especially if it’s football season, Kenisha will find herself at a friend’s tailgating party cheering on their team of choice. Go Gamecocks!
