Cameron Prince was born in North Carolina, but relocated to Central SC with her family when she was young to be closer to an award-winning school system. After earning a mechanical engineering degree at the University of South Carolina College of Engineering and Computing, ranked amongst the best in the nation, Cameron embarked on an engineering career. During her time as a design engineer, she earned an MBA from the University of South Carolina, which over the years has led to her role in product management. Today, as the Senior Product Marketing Manager at Allied Air Enterprises, a Lennox International Inc. company, she works with HVAC distributors around the United States and Canada to drive the future success of the company.
As a native who has chosen to stay and build a career and life in the Region, Cameron appreciates Central SC’s small-town feel, which includes access to incredible outdoor activities, a thriving culinary scene, and friendly neighbors. Plus, Central SC is only an hour and a half from both the mountains and the beach.
One of Cameron’s favorite things about the Region is Lake Murray, a 50,000-acre lake with roughly 650 miles of shoreline. The lake, also known as “The Jewel of South Carolina,” is a huge focal point in Cameron’s life and personal goals – she hopes to someday own a home there. During the summertime, Cameron also enjoys floating down the river in Columbia – a local favorite, cool, and refreshing activity fun for all ages.
A typical weekend for Cameron involves lots of family time. Her parents and in-laws also live in the state (Cameron’s parents in Chapin and her husband’s in the Upstate). And in state where traveling is made easy by an abundance of roadways linking the Central SC Region to places like the Upstate, she’s able to spend quality time with her loved ones without burning a lot of time on the road. Cameron’s two rescue dogs, Louie and Milo, also love going on daily walks in local parks. She also loves spending time with friends, which typically includes “eating our way through Columbia.” Some of Cameron and her friend’s favorite spots are Kaminsky’s Dessert Cafe and Bourbon, both offering great vibes and located in the heart of Central SC.
Aside from soaking up the outdoors and eating at local restaurants, Cameron has found ways to make her 5-9pm hours just as fulfilling as her 9-5pm through professional & recreational groups. As the Event Chair of Allied Alliance, a professional development group within her company, Cameron helps cultivate and unite the next generation of Allied Air’s leaders through social networking, personal and professional development, and leadership opportunities. This includes monthly events, such as their most recent panel event to discuss “managing up,” to help broaden professional skills.
